Client Overview
Clean Air in London is a longstanding Infotex client, having partnered with us since 2012. As an organisation committed to raising awareness and driving action on air quality issues in London and elsewhere, their online presence is crucial to engaging their audience and sharing valuable information.
Project Background
Since the initial launch of the website over a decade ago, the client had been actively maintaining and updating the site with information and articles about air pollution. Over time, however, the website had become outdated in design and cluttered which was starting to affect its usability and overall user experience.
Challenge
Clean Air in London recognised that the website required an update to maintain its effectiveness as a communication tool. The primary challenges were:
- Outdated design and navigation structure.
- A cluttered website with numerous posts and pages that impacted user experience.
- Reviewing site performance
Project Approach
The project was structured in two distinct phases:
Phase 1: Technical Audit and Optimisation The client requested our assistance in reviewing the website’s general performance as the first phase. To achieve this, we conducted a thorough technical audit, identifying various performance bottlenecks, and outdated plugins or scripts. Our team then implemented all necessary changes to optimise the website’s functionality and improve load times.
Phase 2: Redesign and Improved User Experience With the foundation secured, we moved on to redesigning the website. The focus was on creating a more modern and cleaner look, while also enhancing usability and engagement. Key aspects of the redesign included:
- Visual Enhancement: Incorporating artwork and cartoons to make the site visually engaging.
- Call-to-Action (CTA) Integration: Including various CTAs to promote Clean Air in London’s mobile app. The app allows users to keep up to date with the air pollution in their area.
- Content Display: Creating prominent sections for the latest posts and “Top Posts” that can be manually selected by the client.
- Filtering: Implementing filtering options to organise articles by year, categories, and updated tags and tag clouds, helping users find relevant content quickly.
We worked closely with Clean Air in London throughout the redesign process to ensure alignment with their vision. Together, we finalised an updated navigation layout and implemented advanced filtering features to effectively manage the hundreds of posts and pages.
Through this two-phased approach, we transformed Clean Air in London’s website into a modern, visually appealing, and user-friendly platform. The updated site not only reflects the brand’s current goals and identity but also supports its mission to advocate for cleaner air across the capital and internationally by providing a strong and engaging digital presence.
“Infotex has been a tremendous support to Clean Air in London for more than a decade. They have always listened, been highly responsive and done great work on our website and supporting tools. I’ve found their technical audits and research projects particularly valuable for identifying options and budgeting improvements. Clean Air in London cannot thank them enough.“
